Introducing the 1st Annual Phandom Reverse Bang!

Everyone’s heard of The Phandom Big Bang, where fanfiction writers, betas, and artists collaborate to produce a large piece of fiction complete with a corresponding artwork, right? But have they ever heard of The Reverse Bang? It’s a phenomenon that’s been introduced in hundreds of fandoms before ours that we are now introducing to our lovely phandom members!

So what is a reverse bang anyways?

A reverse bang, similar to the big bang, is an event that allows artists, writers, and betas to collaborate on fanfiction and fanart in tandem. However unlike in the big bang, the reverse bang focuses first on the Art rather than the Fanfic! Artists upload art sketches and a prompt related to these sketches for an author to claim and write a story based around that artists world. Get it? So instead, the world is created entirely by the artists, with the fanfiction authors backing them up with their talent for words!

Alright, so how do I participate?

I’m glad you asked! 

Artists can participate by coming up with a concept and creating 2 sketches around it (that’s right, 2 sketches!). For every entry the artist would like to contribute, there must be a minimum of 2 sketches for that world! Eventually, those sketches will become full blown art pieces, but try to focus on the sketches for now! These pieces can be of any medium of your choosing, and you will need to submit both sketches for claiming with a small description of the concept you’ve created!

Artists can began signing up here! Sign ups are open until June 20th!

Authors can participate later on, when claiming starts on August 15th, so that they can choose to participate if a piece of art inspires them. These people will create a fic of at least 5k words. All stories must be new and original. No preexisting posted works will be accepted. 

Betas will also participate later on, when claiming starts on August 15th, so that they can choose to participate if a concept seems interesting to them. These people will provide anything from editing, to general writing help and encouragement for our authors. This includes editing for errors, researching topics to help the author write, or providing motivation and ideas for the story!

How many works can I contribute?

Two. If you wish to contribute more than one work, you can either participate with 

• 2 art concepts
• 2 fics
• 2 betas
• 1 art and 1 fic
• 1 art and 1 beta
• 1 fic and 1 beta

The schedule is as follows:

Artist Signups: June 2nd – June 20th
Artist Check in 1: July 15th
Artist Draft Due: August 5th – 10th
Author Signups & Claiming: August 15th
Beta Signups & Claiming: August 15th
Group Reveals: As soon as all Art is Claimed.
Author Check in 1: September 15th – 20th
Artist Check in 2: October 1st – 5th
Author Check in 2: October 10th – 15th
Fic & Art Due & Posting: November 1st – December 1st
