I feel like people who don’t write fics don’t really understand just how much of a thankless job it is. Especially in small fandoms, where there’s very little recognition or encouragement. Us fic writers get less than 100 notes on our fics. Most often, it’s WAY less than that, and the majority of it is from friends who also write fics. The chances of there being any kind of feedback is pretty much zilch. Kudos to hits ratios are laughably miniscule, reviews are rare, and people still have the audacity to demand updates or feel entitled to an author’s work.

We spend months on one story and barely ever get even a “This is great!”

Please do not harass us. Please do not sweep us under the rug. We work so hard. We are important to fandoms. 

Imagine a fandom without any fanfic.

We are important. What we do is important. Fanfiction is important. And fanfic authors are important.
